With the band “Dropkick Murphys” blaring in the background the new Superintendent of Anglophone North School District, Mr. Mark Donovan, made his way to the stage and brought forth a message of innovation, professionalism, risk taking and rejuvenation. This message was delivered during opening day professional learning sessions on August 28th in Miramichi and August 29th in Bathurst.

Mr. Donovan's words were backed by a commitment to action in the form of some exciting new initiatives that had teachers in ASD-N buzzing. These include, but are not limited to:

The numbering of all School Buses across the District has changed. The last two digits of the existing bus numbers will remain the same but the new numbering will now include a location or series number as follows :

Supply Teacher Needed, image of apple

ASD-N is seeking applicants for day-to-day supply teaching positions. Both certified teachers and local permits will be considered. Local permits should have a minimum requirement of two years post-secondary education. However, candidates with less education will be considered and are welcome to apply.

 Revised Transportation Information was provided to students who will attend King Street Elementary  School  prior to the closing of classes in June 2017. This information is still correct and will only be adjusted, as required, after the School year commences. Anglophone North School District's 2017 Turnaround Achievement Award Winners - Miramichi/Rexton area schools!

Anglophone North elementary schools had the opportunity on June 1st to participate in the districts 3rd annual elementary drama festival.

Three schools participated this year.  Gretna Green School put on the play “Aladdin”, directed by Krista Bransfield.  Napan Elementary’s play was “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and was under the direction of Cheryl Carroll.  Nelson Rural’s play was under the direction of Mary O’Neill-Delano and their play was “What a Knight”

The newly built Max Aitken Academy hosted 100 Years of Loss from April 3-14, which is a mobile exhibit that travels across the nation to build awareness and educate people about the Indian Residential School experience and it impacts on Indigenous Peoples and communities to this day.

On Saturday, April 22nd, Jacquet River School hosted the annual ASD-N French Oratorical Competition.  There were a total of 29 middle school and high school competitors from the Early and Late Immersion programs as well as from the Post-Intensive French program. All of the speeches were well done and the judges were impressed with the high level of French and wide variety of topics.
