The Skills Canada
High School Provincial Competitions are set to take place in Miramichi on
Saturday, April 12, 2014. Some events will be held at James M. Hill High School
while others will be presented at Miramichi Valley High School. All
participants will end the day at the James M. Hill auditorium for the medal
presentations and announcement of the secondary participants who will be
invited to participate with Team NB in Toronto, Ontario for the 20th Skills
Canada National Competition.

The ASD-N CUTE Awards 2014 were held Wednesday March 19th, at
the James M. Hill High School Theatre. The Creative Use of Technology in
Education (CUTE) Awards are held annually to highlight the work of students and
teachers using digital technology. The use of digital technology is considered
an important aspect of learning in the 21st century and contributes to the
mastery of the curriculum’s learning outcomes. Moreover technology provides
excellent opportunities for communication within a school’s community. To see
Feeling both proud and sad, staff and students at North and South
Esk Elementary School in Sunny Corner recently unveiled the Mike Buggie Leadership Award. This
award will to be presented yearly to a grade 6 student has exemplified leadership
amongst his or her peers, has made a positive contribution to the school and
community, is in good academic and social standing, and has gone above and
beyond the call of duty.
Mike Buggie was a
dedicated principal, teacher, and colleague who made significant contributions
not only to the learning community at NSEE but also to the community of Sunny
MANGO and the ASD-N Healthy

Eleven students from Dalhousie Regional High
School participated in a Canadian Blood Services blood donor clinic held on
February 26th at the Dalhousie Lions Club Hall. June
Harquail, organizer of the event, was very proud of the students and stressed
how important it is to give blood. She is hopeful more students donate blood at future clinics.
