North and South Esk Elementary student Avery Hiemstra has just been awarded first place in the 'Junior Essay' category of The Royal Canadian Legion’s National Literary Contest.  Avery was recognized for her writing proficiency and her ability to clearly evoke a strong sense of Remembrance in her work in a congratulatory letter from Dominion President Thomas Irvine, sent on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.
