The Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development has just provided an update on the plan for the continuity of education.
Schools in New Brunswick will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The school year will not be extended.
A plan for Home Learning options and activities will start next week in ASD-N. Teachers will be reaching out to students and families to share these options starting next week.
As a result of the recent announcement by the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development closing schools for the remainder of the school year, Anglophone North School District wishes to advise the public of the cancellation of all school rentals up to June 30, 2020. As well, all outdoor play areas, such as playgrounds, fields, tracks, tennis courts, etc. are closed until further notice.
The Department of Education and Eary Childhood Development has announced that New Brunswick's K-12 school system will be closed until further notice.
In a memo to parents and guardians, Deputy Minister George Daley goes on to say:
'As we heard from Dr. Jennifer Russell, Chief Medical Officer of Health, "COVID-19 is a pandemic and New Brunswick is not immune." This closure status will be reassessed during the first week of April, in collaboration with Public Health.
Although it is necessary at this time to follow directives of Self Isolation and Social Distancing in response to the Covid-19 virus, it is still very important for students to remain physically active. Despite being limited due to the closure of most recreational facilities, there are still numerous activities which can be done to ensure a daily dose of physical fitness is maintained. This may include the following:
As per Minister Dominic Cardy's memo, effective Monday, March 16, 2020 all schools across the province will be closed for two weeks. This decision was made by the all-party cabinet committee in response to COVID-19. This closure will be reassessed on an ongoing basis.
Please note that the ASD-N French Second Language parent information meeting that was scheduled for this evening at Terry Fox Elementary School has been cancelled.
