Minister Cardy will be visiting ASD-N as part of the upcoming regional consultations on the green paper.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood, in partnership with Anglophone School District North, is organizing a consultation session on Tuesday, February 11th, at Miramichi Valley High School.  The school is located at 345 McKenna Avenue in Miramichi.

Grade 1 students from Mrs. Noel’s class at King Street Elementary have been travelling to Losier Hall Shannex in Miramichi to spend time working with and teaching seniors. This is done through the use of iPads, Osmo game based learning systems and robotics Students share their knowledge with their new found friends, as they work together to solve numeracy and literacy based puzzles.

Gretna Green Superflex Episode Screencapture

For the past 8 years, students at Gretna Green School have been part of the Superflex Crew. Superflex is a kid-friendly social thinking curriculum. Students learn about Superflex strategies and the undesirable characters, develop scripts with teacher assistance, and act out real-life scenarios they see in themselves and in their school. Students that have been part of the Superflex Crew have produced over 50 videos.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood, in partnership with Anglophone School District - North, is organizing a consultation session on Tuesday, February 11th, at Miramichi Valley High School in Miramichi. 

This consultation session will provide an opportunity for parents, school employees and community partners to share their feedback on the ideas presented in the green paper. In addition, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Dominic Cardy will meet with groups of students and teachers throughout the day, to gather their respective feedback.

The ASD-N Numeracy Team is making math fun for students with their Numeracy Christmas Contest, targeting grades K-5.  Teachers and their classes have been challenged to post a Christmas math activity with the corresponding  outcome/building block, such as the riddle Ms. Devereaux's K/1 class from Jacquet River School is working on in the photo.  Each post will earn the class a chance to win an awesome prize for the classroom!

Superior Middle School staff and students in Bathurst are extending an invitation to the public to attend their upcoming Term 1 Exhibition, being held this Thursday, November 28th.  The Exhibition will take place at the school on November 28th from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. and again from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., and will showcase all of the great work that SMS students are doing.  This is a great opportunity to check out examples of the innovative learning taking place in ASD-N!

The ASD-N Literacy Leads have created a fun, festive reading challenge for November 25th to December 13th! Teachers and their classes have been invited to pick a fun reading challenge each day for twelve days and then check off the boxes on the registration form. Teachers will mail their sheet back to the Literacy Elves on December 13th, to enter into the chance to win a wonderful classroom gift. The registration form button can be found on the home page.
