Eleven students from Dalhousie Regional High School participated in a Canadian Blood Services blood donor clinic held on February 26th at the Dalhousie Lions Club Hall. June Harquail, organizer of the event, was very proud of the students and stressed how important it is to give blood.  She is hopeful  more students donate blood  at future clinics.

Pink Shirt Day across Canada is Wednesday February 26th. Pink Shirt Day originated in Nova Scotia when two students organized the day to protest against bullying in their school. They distributed pink shirts to all of the boys to wear in empathy with a boy who was being bullied. The day has grown over the years and now we are all asked to wear pink on this day to help stop bullying. A number of schools in ASD-N are marking this day, on or about Feb. 26th. On February 12th Jacquet River School completed its first session of the ELF Program.  Four children participated and their teachers were very pleased with their progress. A second session of the program is being planned following March break. The program organizers felt very fortunate to find volunteers through a partnership with the New Brunswick Community College in Belledune. Twenty-nine students from Bonar Law Memorial School in Rexton are taking part in a week-long student cultural exchange with students in Victoria, British Columbia.  Prior to last Friday’s snow storm the group did some scrambling to get to Moncton ahead of the bad weather and where fortunate their flight was scheduled before Sunday’s "double header". While in Victoria they will have the opportunity to share in the culture and history of Vancouver Island.
