Many parents and community members volunteered their time this past school year to help Lord Beaverbrook School in Campbellton through the volunteer committee “Friends of LBS”. Projects organized included fund raising and special events for the students.  Pictured above are some of those volunteers who made a huge difference at the school. Last June Mrs. Lyons’ grade 2 students at Lord Beaverbrook School, Campbellton, sold Rice Krispie squares as part of a lesson in math and the social studies unit, "You and Your World". The  $177.00 raised was donated to the  IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.. Pictured above in the first row (left to right): Elyse Laviolettte, Jason Parent, Nadia Dibblee and Casious Carrier. The 7th annual MANGO Go for 42 Challenge for 2013 wrapped up this past Sunday with over 300 students from 19 schools taking part in a fun-run through the streets of Newcastle-Miramichi. The number of runners was the largest turn-out yet for this yearly event held to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. Many of the young runners were supported by family members who also covered the two kilometer course walking, running and in some instances, being pushed in strollers.

Campbellton Middle School (CMS) recently held a Girls Circle™ program for girls in grade 5 and 6. The program provided a safe space where girls could express themselves and participate in thought-provoking activities related to friendships, anti-bullying, self-esteem, self-awareness and girls’ solidarity.        At CMS, the girls worked on gaining a greater understanding of themselves, as well as accepting all parts of themselves as unique and special. Students from the Lord Beaverbrook School and Tide Head School recently gathered together to enjoy a morning of outdoor activities at Rotary Field in Campbellton.  This community schools event included over 230 students, teachers, administrators, parent volunteers, as well as students volunteers from Sugarloaf Senior High School.      Mr.

AIM Summer Adventure Camps offer a variety of programming throughout the week. Participants are encouraged to stretch outside of their comfort zone and experience personal growth through such activities as paddling, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, archery, etc. Because of the wide variety of activities in this outdoor education program, the result is an enriching experience for everyone.

The “Worlds Youngest Teachers” were honored on Monday, June 10th at the annual Baby Celebration for Roots of Empathy program. The Beaverbrook Kincenter was the place to be when the babies who participated in the program in the Anglophone North School District in 2011-2013 gathered along with their parents and various community supporters. Community support for this program has enabled programs to be held in the district since 2005.

Lord Beaverbrook School teacher Mrs. Sandra Crowley has been recognized with the Bell Aliant Award for Excellence in Teaching by the New Brunswick Teachers’ Association.  This award is made to a member of the association who is recognized by their peers and the community for their outstanding contribution to their students and to the teaching profession.
