For Anglophone School Districts, registration will take place at your local school from October 10th‑13th for children who will turn five by December 31, 2018 and who start school in September 2018.

A total of ten schools from Anglophone North School District and one from Anglophone East took part in the 2nd Annual ASD-N Catapult Challenge held this past Saturday afternoon at the Waterford Green in Miramichi.

On Friday, September 29th Anglophone North School District celebrated and commemorated Survivors of the Indian Residential School system and those who did not make it home. A "BIG" thank you goes out to all those who worked hard across the district to make this day such a success! The district was a sea of orange and many activities took place leading up to the day and on the day of September 29th. The accompanying picture shows the Miramichi Education Centre Staff who showed their support by wearing orange.

Max Aitken Academy’s grade 6-8 students hosted Margaret (Ward) Barnaby from Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation on Friday, September 15. She spoke to the students about Orange Shirt Day and the importance of recognizing and understanding the history and legacy of the Indian Residential School system in Canada.

This is an important topic for Margaret because she is a Survivor of this dark chapter in our history as well as, her mother and other family members. She attended what was known as Shubenacadie Indian Residential School located in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.

Miramichi Rural has been chosen by EECD as one of four schools in the province to pilot FLORA - French Learning Opportunities for Rural Areas. Principal Zoella Vienneau will be teaching the program to students from kindergarten to grade 3.

Last year, during the annual APEGNB Pumpkin Fling in Miramichi, schools from ASD-N were challenged to modify trebuchets and launch projectiles at a target for cash prizes. The event was such a huge success the engineers have invited us back for the 2017 Pumpkin Fling happening on September 30th at Waterford Green in Miramichi from 10am-3pm.

With the band “Dropkick Murphys” blaring in the background the new Superintendent of Anglophone North School District, Mr. Mark Donovan, made his way to the stage and brought forth a message of innovation, professionalism, risk taking and rejuvenation. This message was delivered during opening day professional learning sessions on August 28th in Miramichi and August 29th in Bathurst.

Mr. Donovan's words were backed by a commitment to action in the form of some exciting new initiatives that had teachers in ASD-N buzzing. These include, but are not limited to:
