The Miramichi and Bathurst Bell Aliant Pioneers in partnership with Staples have once again provided Backpacks for students in need. The Aliant Pioneers distributed in excess of 1747 backpacks to schools within the province for the September School Year. Close to 300 backpacks were donated in the Northern Region. A huge thank you from students and families of Anglophone North School District.
There was plenty of excitement in air, not to mention pumpkins, apples, tennis balls, and just about everything else that could be flung or fired at the 2016 APEGNB Pumpkin Fling held this past Saturday on the Waterford Green in Miramichi. This annual event organized and hosted by the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of New Brunswick has become a community staple over the past 14 years.
Dalhousie Regional High School is working with the New Brunswick Association for Community Living to help bring awareness of the support provided by this agency for people with intellectual disabilities. How does it work? DRHS will collect garbage bags of used clothing and NBACL will provide a monetary contribution for each bag collected. Please see poster for more details.
ASDN has been monitoring the situation in PEI and NS throughout the day. At no time was there any information supporting credible threats to any school in NB.
Please be assured that both Police and schools have well established protocols for managing these issues. Barring further information, these sound local practices should guide any decisions to ensure safety and security in both the community and at school.
The new K-5 school in Miramichi East is scheduled to welcome 400 students when it opens its doors in September 2017.
The Anglophone North School District has selected a naming committee which will be responsible for submitting three new school names to the District Education Council for their consideration.
The naming committee is looking for help from the public in this process.
As part of the 2016 APEGNB Pumpkin Fling, students from ASD-N will have the opportunity to compete for Cash Prizes in the first ever mini-trebuchet contest. The contest will take place September 24, 2016 on Chatham's Waterford Green in Miramichi, NB.
17 year old Bathurst High Student, Toni Mullen attended a two week excursion in Northern Canada and Greenland. Toni, who can be seen holding the Bathurst Flag, attended with 100 students as an international youth education program. Educators on the trip included climate change scientists, glaciologists, teachers, historians and Inuit elders.
Several important vaccines are offered to students in grades 7 and 9 in New Brunswick. These vaccines are free and are given at the school by Public Health Nurses. For more information, please see the attached documents.
Due to maximization of class sizes, as of June 15, 2016, we will not be in a position to approve out of zone transfer requests until after September 30, 2016. All requests coming in from June 15th on will be numbered and we will revisit requests and make approvals based on availability at the end of September.
