The Campbellton Junior A Tigers found time in their busy pre-season schedule to welcome back students at Tide Head School. The partnership created last year by Community School Coordinator Aysleigh Lefurgey and Head Coach Troy Ryan continued as players dedicated an afternoon to help students prepare their school garden for the fall. Miramichi Valley High School has been selected by a group called Brilliant Labs to do a technology project for the Fall of 2014.  ‘Underwater Robots on the Miramichi’ will allow students an opportunity to explore the Miramichi River with OpenROV robots (Remote Operated Vehicle) and capture live video of their exploration.  The class will be posting updates on their expedition throughout the semester and encourages everyone to follow the project by visiting the link...  OpenExplorer   .

Are you looking to share your love of reading and get involved in your community? Elementary Literacy Inc. is a not-for-profit charitable organization with the mission to work closely with educators, parents and communities for increasing literacy rates across New Brunswick. To support this effort, Elementary Literacy Inc. offers the Elementary Literacy Friends Program (Elf) in Anglophone schools across NB. The Elf Program is a one-on-one reading achievement program matching trained community volunteers with grade 2 children who require additional reading practice.

Again this year a number of ASD-N schools began the school term on September 2nd with programs for new students called WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) and Boomerang (You get back what you put in) for Middle School and High School respectively. Generous support for the music programs in ASD-N schools was received from the Miramichi radio station 95.9 Sun FM. The presentation of a cheque for $5000 was made to ASD-N superintendent Beth Stymiest and music teachers Candace Curtis and Chantal MacDonald this past Wednesday at the District Office. Once again, for the 12th year running,  the Miramichi Council of the BellAliant Pioneers have made a generous donation of school supplies to students in the Miramichi, Harcourt and Rexton areas of Anglophone North School District through their “Backpacks for Kids” program. The 8th annual “Salt of the Earth Artisan and Craft Exposition” was held on July the 27th on La Promenade, Bathurst, supported by Anglophone North School District  and The City of Bathurst.  Artisans and vendors from both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick participated in the event with proceeds going towards “The Spirit of Christmas” campaign for impoverished seniors and the  “Grandmothers of Lesotho, Africa” project.  Included also was a draw for a $500.00 gas card, won by artisan Liz Daley, mother of Carla Roy, an employee with the school district.   Organizers expressed thanks
